Advanced Training Should Help You Become More Fully Yourself
You may be entering advanced training with a clear vision for your teaching. You may know the community you want to serve but need help developing the right tools. Or you may simply know that you are ready to grow, even if you have not yet named exactly where that growth will lead.
You do not need to have it all figured out before you begin.
Every student receives the same comprehensive trauma-informed foundation. From there, your workshop development, advanced assignments, and time with the Lead Instructor are shaped around your interests, goals, and the people you hope to serve.
This is a structured 300-hour certification with room for your own calling, experience, and professional direction.

Yoga Is More Than Movement
Yoga can create meaningful conditions for embodiment, regulation, connection, agency, and well-being. A trauma-informed approach recognizes that every student enters the room with a unique body, history, and relationship to practice.
Through an understanding of the nervous system, stress response, and adaptive teaching, you will learn to create experiences that are safer, more accessible, and responsive to the people in front of you.
You will learn to:
-
Understand how trauma and chronic stress can affect the body and mind
-
Offer cues that support interoception, proprioception, and mind-body connection
-
Adapt postures for different levels of regulation, experience, and ability
-
Create sequences that support regulation and completion of stress cycles
-
Teach in ways that foster trust, agency, choice, and resilience
-
Recognize the scope and ethical boundaries of the Yoga teacher’s role
This isn’t an add-on. It’s the foundation of everything we do.
If You're Ready to Go Deeper, You're in the Right Place

1. Trauma-Informed Yoga Foundations
Complete the foundational curriculum, coaching, exam, and teaching demonstration.
Â
Â
2. Personalized Advanced Study
Develop your niche, create and present an original workshop, and complete five advanced learning modules with individual guidance.
Â
Segment One
Trauma-Informed Yoga Foundations
Segment One ensures that every student enters personalized advanced study with a shared understanding of trauma-informed principles, teaching methodology, professional scope, and safe application.
During this segment, you will complete the guided self-study curriculum from our 200-hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training, supported by six individual sessions with a POGYI Coach. These sessions provide space to practice applying our Trauma-Informed method and prepare you for the teaching demonstration.
To move into Segment Two, students complete:
-
All foundational lectures and coursework
-
Six hours of individual POGYI coaching
-
An open-book examination
-
An evaluated teaching demonstration
Students who previously completed POGYI’s 200-hour training and successfully passed the same teaching demonstration will not be required to repeat it.
Segment Two
Personalized Advanced Study
Once you have completed the foundational requirements, the program becomes increasingly centered around your goals as a Yoga teacher.
You will work individually with Lead Instructor Lenora Rousseau to identify an area of focus, develop an original workshop, and apply advanced Yoga education to your teaching, intended population, and professional direction.
This segment is designed to help you move beyond learning more and begin doing something meaningful with what you know.
Develop Your Signature WorkshopÂ
Explore a subject that matters to you and transform it into a researched, practical offering for your teaching, career, ministry, or community.
With guidance from the Lead Instructor, you will:
- Clarify your goals and identify a niche
- Select and research an approved workshop theme
- Develop your workshop outline and participant materials
- Present your completed workshop and receive feedback
You will leave with a thoughtfully researched workshop that can be adapted for the people and settings you serve.Â
Complete Personalized Advanced YTT Study
Work through advanced Yoga teacher training content on your own schedule through assigned readings, lecture videos, and applied assignments.
You will complete at least five hours of one-to-one sessions with Lead Instructor Lenora Rousseau. These sessions provide space to discuss the material, review your assignments, and apply what you are learning to your goals, intended population, and professional setting.
Your advanced curriculum includes:
- Advanced Anatomy and Science
- Intermediate to Advanced Asana
- Advanced Yoga Adjustments
- Advanced Ethics and Business Development
- Advancements in Trauma-Informed Care and Applications in Yoga
Every student completes the same advanced subject areas while receiving individualized guidance in applying the curriculum to their own teaching and direction.
Together, your workshop and advanced study create a personalized path from deeper knowledge to meaningful application.
Guidance Where It Will Matter Most
Every student receives up to 12 hours of individual time with Lenora during Segment Two. At least eight hours are required for graduation, while the remaining four hours allow you to receive more support where you need it most.
These Lead Instructor hours are provided in addition to the six individual POGYI coaching sessions included in Segment One.
Where Might Your Training Take You?
Personalized advanced study gives you space to explore how trauma-informed Yoga can support a particular community, complement the work you already do, or help you develop new partnerships.
Your area of focus may grow from your profession, lived experience, community, ministry, or the people you feel called to serve.
Christ-Centered Yoga and Ministry
Explore the thoughtful integration of Yoga, Christian spiritual formation, ministry, and whole-person care.
Students may use our optional Christ-Centered Reflection and Integration workbook during Segment One and explore applications for churches, ministries, faith-based organizations, retreats, and other spiritual settings during personalized advanced study.
Military Communities
Develop practices responsive to the experiences of active-duty service members, veterans, military spouses, and military-connected families.
Advanced study may explore nervous-system regulation, resilience, accessible practice, community support, and the practical considerations involved in serving military populations.
Nonprofit and Trauma-Recovery Organizations
Prepare to partner with organizations serving individuals and communities affected by trauma, instability, and systemic barriers.
Areas of interest may include organizations supporting survivors of sexual assault or human trafficking, people in substance-use recovery, individuals experiencing homelessness, and other community-based populations.
Personalized study can help you consider accessibility, agency, professional boundaries, organizational collaboration, and the needs of the specific community you hope to serve.
Clinical and Integrative Care Settings
Explore how Yoga may responsibly complement care within therapy practices, healthcare organizations, recovery programs, and other interdisciplinary settings.
Licensed practitioners may consider how Yoga fits within their existing professional role and scope of practice. Yoga teachers may explore opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and organizations by offering supportive classes for their clients or communities.
Areas of focus may include mental-health settings, chronic illness, cancer treatment and survivorship, rehabilitation, and other forms of whole-person care.
These are examples, not predetermined tracks.
Your personalized study will be shaped around your own goals while remaining grounded in trauma-informed principles, ethical practice, professional scope, and appropriate collaboration.
